Dell Latitude Notebook
Dell Latitude Notebook D500 Review:
Big enough to make presentations, but light enough to take on the road, the D505 gives budget notebooks a good name. Just because you're on a budget, doesn't mean you have to settle for a heavy, cumbersome notebook. Dell's entry-level D500 thin-and-light has a zippy 1.4GHz Pentium M processor, 128MB of RAM, a 20GB hard drive, and a basic CD-ROM drive. Its 14.1-inch display runs at XGA resolution on a 32MB ATI Mobility Radeon 9000 chipset. Even this budget configuration includes a modem, Ethernet, and 802.11b wireless.
If price is no object, three faster versions of the Pentium M are available, as are more memory, big hard drives, and both CD and DVD burners. The system's port compliment includes serial and parallel, as well as a pair of USB 2.0 ports. In addition to VGA output (external monitor), there's also an S-Video port. In all, this thin and light has something for everyone and represents an excellent entry-level value in terms of both performance and reliability.
