Fujitsu Lifebook T4010 Tablet PC Review
Fujitsu Lifebook T4010 Tablet PC Review:
The Fujitsu T4010 makes a fully competent Tablet. The 12.1-inch XGA display is a good size for the platform, and this screen has a smooth but durable finish that will stand up to the rigors of life on the road. While not as high-contrast and rich as some displays from Toshiba and others, the Fujitsu LCD is bright and sharp.
The Fujitsu Lifebook T4010 Tablet PC succeeds where other Tablet PC's fail by packing a fast processor, more power, and an optical drive that weighs a very acceptable 4.7 pounds. Fujitsu's latest convertible Tablet PC combo is one of the best you can buy.
What truly separates the Fujitsu Lifebook T4010 Tablet PC from the competition is its combo DVD-ROM/CD-RW drive. Only one other convertible with a 12.1-inch screen has an this optical drive and that's the Averatec C3500 Tablet PC, but it weighs nearly a pound more. Having this drive means you can easily load software and use the Fujitsu as a portable DVD movie theater.
The 1.8-GHz Pentium M is fast, and the menus and Windows open quickly. It's fast enough to satisfy most general business needs. The 40GB hard drive is generously sized. The T4010 Tablet PC uses integrated Intel graphics, so you shouldn't expect to play any demanding gaming applications. Nevertheless, you're able to reposition high-resolution images without noticeable lags.
The Fujitsu Lifebook T4010 Tablet PC is loaded when it comes to connectivity, with Bluetooth built in and 802.11 b/g Wi-Fi. There's also a Secure Digital card slot for loading pictures from your digital camera or transferring files.
As a laptop, the Fujitsu offers several great features. It's keyboard is spacious and all of the keys on this convertible are full-sized. The directional keys are offset in the bottom right for easy maneuvering.
Unlike some convertible manufacturers, Fujitsu was clever enough to place the two speakers at the front of the case, facing the user in a standard laptop configuration, so that they sound clear in both Tablet and desktop configurations. And they don't get very loud.
To convert from laptop to Tablet, you simply swivel the display and fold it back to secure it on the keyboard. There is a reversible latch on the screen's top edge that flips down to lock the screen onto the base. The screen sits very securely on the base. The Fujitsu Lifebook T4010 Tablet PC offers a feature set that's makes for a very capable convertible Tablet PC.
