Apple Powerbook Review: If you’re an Apple fan, this is the cream of the crop! The M9110 offers a slim profile even with its huge 17'' display and an incredible graphics setup with the ATI Radeon 9600 video card. Apple has also managed to include an 80GB hard drive and an energy efficient processor for the dual wireless capability. The ultimate portable desktop.

Miraculously engineered, the ultralight 17-inch PowerBook G4 is just 1-inch thin and 6.9 pounds, making it the thinnest and lightest notebook with a 17-inch display on the market today. In this Apple Powerbook, that in itself is a feat of engineering genius considering that most desktop replacement laptops tip the scales at between 9-to-12 pounds.

Housed in a lightweight and durable aluminum alloy enclosure, the new 17-inch PowerBook G4 is resistant to stains and scratches. The 1.5GHz processor gives a tremendous performance boost with an advanced cache memory architecture that provides ultrafast dedicated memory with massively enhanced throughput.

The first thing you’ll notice in the Apple Powerbook is the megawide display the largest ever in a notebook. This PowerBook’s stunning display gives you the same viewing area as a 19-inch CRT monitor. And as for the amount of information you can see on the screen at one time, the 17-inch PowerBook supports a resolution of 1440 by 900 pixels an eye-popping 1.3 million pixels appearing on the screen simultaneously.

The 17-inch PowerBook G4 comes with 512MB of DDR SDRAM, expandable to 2GB of RAM allowing you to run several RAM-hungry applications simultaneously, or to store an entire graphics project in main memory for fast image manipulations.

The 17-inch PowerBook G4 comes turbocharged with the ATI Mobility Radeon 9700 graphics processor with 64MB of DDR SDRAM. (And, if you feel the need for even more graphics speed, you can order your PowerBook G4 with 128MB of video memory.) The Mobility Radeon 9700 features a number of cutting-edge graphics technologies, including programmable pixel and vertex shading for lighting and shadow effects never seen before on a notebook computer. It dramatically enhances all aspects of your visual experience in every application, perfect for photorealistic 3D games and cinematic-quality video. Ample RAM enables you to utilize the most demanding software applications with ease.

Featuring a powerful 1.5GHz PowerPC G4 processor, up to 2GB of DDR RAM and with AirPort Extreme and Bluetooth built in the top gun of notebook computers has it all. The 17-inch PowerBook features a fiber optic backlit keyboard that’s right out of the future. Built-in light sensors automatically adjust the keyboard illumination and your screen's brightness based on the available ambient light. yuzo - Captain Tsubasa Spain

The only drawback in this Apple Powerbook review is I’d like to see a floppy drive or Media Card slot. However, that can be inexpensively compensated for with a small USB jump drive for quick back-ups using one of the available USB 2.0 ports. Other than that....this laptop configuration is near perfection!
